Capital Credits
West Plains Electric Cooperative in a nonprofit electric cooperative
that allocates annual operating margins to members receiving service
during that year. The margins are realized when revenues exceed
expenses. The margins are allocated to members based on the patronage,
or total amount paid in. These allocations are called capital credits.
Capital credits are retained as capital to operate the business
of the cooperative. They are refunded to the members as financial
condition permits and as the provisions of the bylaws are met.
If you move from West Plains Electric's system, please keep us
informed of your address in future years. This will enable us to
forward payment of the capital credits as they are refunded.
Please Remember:
- The capital credit statement you receive is not a bill.
- These amounts are not immediately payable.
- These amounts can not be applied to your electric bill
