What is West Plains Electric Cooperative's Scholarship Program?
The West Plains Electric Scholarship Program is designed to encourage and recognize the academic achievements of the members of West Plains Electric Cooperative and/or their dependent children. This recognition will be in the form of scholarships to assist with their college education.

How much is the scholarship?
The West Plains Electric Cooperative Scholarship Program will award two scholarships in the amount of $500 each through Basin Electric Power Cooperative. Ten scholarships in the amount of $250 each will be awarded through West Plains Electric Cooperative. A total of $3500 in scholarships will be awarded. The scholarships must be used for educational costs, and the student must enter college in the fall of the school year for which the scholarship is given. Checks will be made payable jointly to the student and the school, and must be endorsed by both parties. West Plains Electric Cooperative will present the scholarship award during a recognition ceremony at the cooperative's annual meeting in Dickinson in June.

Who is eligible to receive the scholarship?
Dependent children of members are eligible. Also eligible are members of West Plains Electric Cooperative. The applicant must be a student who is enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time graduate or undergraduate course of study at an accredited, two-year or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school. West Plains Electric Cooperative scholarships will be awarded without regard to any loans or financial assistance the applicant may have obtained.

How are the recipients selected?
Awards are based on academic excellence, which includes the following criteria: SAT/ACT scores, grade-point average, work experience, participation in school and community activities, a statement by the student explaining his/her educational and career goals, and a written recommendation by a third party. A West Plains selection committee will screen applications. The decision of the committee is final.

What are the recipient's obligations?
Except for the requirements outlined in this brochure, no obligations will be imposed upon the student as a scholarship award winner. Other than payment of the scholarship, no obligations or liability are assumed by West Plains Electric Cooperative.

How can I apply?
